how do you delete your facebook account?

Drop down menu "v" on the right side of the menu across the top > Account settings > Security > Deactivate your account (it's below the box in small blue text) it will redirect you. Fill out the little form and hit confirm. You'll be logged out and informed that if you ever want to reactivate your account to log in again and it will be waiting there for you. But until you log in again you won't be on Facebook. People won't be able to see your profile, you won't be on their friends list. etc.
