why is social class important?

Social Class is important because we feel better when we belong to something.

It's unfair because some who don't "belong" feel left out.

By nature, we categorize. (animals, human, homosapien, species, food groups, hair color, and such) Everyone does it. Some just overdo it.

Social class today is used for economic status, power, bragging rights, organizational reasons.

Social classes: Celebrity (strangely enough), Upper Class, Middle Class, and Lower Class.

Celebrity class (movie stars, successful musicians, royalty) are sometimes treated as gods. We follow the fashion trends, beauty trends, and sometimes whatever they market to the lower classes. They are, for the most part, treated as though they are apart from the laws and rules that apply to the lower classes. Some are not so lucky.

Upper Class (wealthy business owners, Heirs, solcialites) are rich and wealthy, yet unknown to the masses. They treat each other quite badly at times to keep their status. They are mostly respected by the lower classes. Some from those classes don't appreciate the different treatment, however.

Middle Class (soccer moms, suburban living) have somewhat of a financial stability and prefer to live in areas that are safe to raise children. This group usually sticks together to maintain order in daily life. Because the bond is quite strong, the politicians reach out to them and sometimes give better treatment than the lower class.

Lower Class (poor people, minimum wage) have it the worst. In a capitalist society (America), money is essential to living. This class has the least and therefore has the most problems. Their voices are the least to be respected in the courtroom for lack of the ability to hire a good lawyer. The school system is poor and mostly the neighborhoods are unsafe to raise children. The government aids the people in this class but not much as most of them stay in this class for generations at a time. This class is the worst treated class.

I was in the lower class and am now middle class. Capital does change things and in America, that's how we are classed.
