Well it's obvious you both like each other. Are you still with the other person? If not then obviously you can do anything, just be careful that he doesnt play games with you. I had a similar experience, one im now still having to deal with 8 years later. We both liked each other but each time one of us was ready the other was already with another person. Yet 8 years and we're still trying...sometimes its worth it, sometimes it isnt. You honestly wont know until you properly spend time together. The guy I was having issue with I now can't stand lol
