why are some white girls so obsessed(??For lack of a better word) with being skinny?
Hello there. I am in highschool and I was just wondering this. I asked my white friends this and they acted like they couldn't comprehend the question. Seriously. I read a lot on social sites. Things like wattpad, you know. In most of the the stories there is some girl who has some blonde, beautiful, and skinny bestfriend, while the girl has "curves" and she apparently them. Even in the well-written ones. There's a different description by the black writers who write black characters (not that those are that good to, I just can only handle one thing at a time). Typically, you write what you know. I also seen it on facebook. The captions they post on their pictures says it all. In school, all you hear is weight and hair. Some of the girls aren't even fat. It makes me wonder, what EXACTLY is their definition on skinny. I say some because I know plenty of white girls who aren't obsessed about it..
Nope. Nope. Nope. Don't give me that. Nope. Nope. Did I say nope? I guess skinny is a subjective term, so what exactly do you call skinny?
No black girl I know wants to be skinny. Nope. Nope. Nope. Same usually go for latinos. Funny thing is that you only name one, two white people? That's the point. I can't explain myself clearer because I'm on my phone at the minute. Btw, those are white models on those covers.
To make this clear, I will elaborate. What aren't you comprehending? It is culture. Typically blacks do not desire to be skinny. One look at any magazine geared towards them will probably bring this the fore-font. Tbh, I don't see many black actresses anywhere. There's a couple and I know about two out of five of them that get's called "too skinny" . Point in case, Jennifer Hudson. She lost all that weight and people were just saying stupid stuff. She wasn't even all that skinny. I thought you guys knew this. "Curves" or being "thick' is valued in the black community ( typically African american- I know some other black cultures does this, but I am trying to keep it local). Be real, Kim K. is not known for having a typical white girl body. White girls have anorexia and black girls have over-eating ( beauty is not the only sole reason). Come on, tell me don't know how they try to eat that cornbread and "soulfood" to get a n
My added details got cut off. I never said we valued being obesity. Don't put words in my mouth. Yeah, I thought I made it pretty clear, this is my view-point on how it is. Where did you get five actresses from? I know black actress(not my name) and they're all pretty skinny. I don't get your point. They're all mainstream, so they assimilated into the dominant culture. If you think I am ignorant, so be it. I never said black girls didn't obsess over their weight. I said white girls obsessed over being SKINNY. I don't know what goes on in the UK, so I can't comment.
