I'm so confused about going into college. Help?

Where do you live? For a medium income family, your best choice is likely a state school (University of Florida, or California State University at Fresno, etc). They're going to be least expensive. Most schools are 5 years for teaching (4 +1 student teaching).

Don't buy the bull that teachers don't make any money. Their starting salary for 9 months of work is almost $40k is my state. That's plenty to support a family on; comfortable, but not rich.

Depending upon your state, consider a junior college for the first two years to take care of your general ed. Most will have a direct transfer agreement with a university that offers secondary education. You'll want to make certain to take classes that will count toward the education degree.
