Have you left Facebook, and what was the reason for doing so?
I did a few weeks ago because of the few friends I had on it, many never seemed to respond to messages and just had me as another line to their tally, which I found quite tragic, and also because the pages I liked seemed to be inundated with morons spouting their tabloid-fed stock opinions about everything. I just felt that most of the people on Facebook have never even thought of reading a book out of curiosity, and would continue to post photos of themselves pulling the same faces, with the same friends, at the same parties, until the fall of Wormwood. I also had a timeline that was inundated with updates from pages I hadn't even 'liked' and it just felt like advertising, which I can see whenever I switch on the TV. It just confirms my own thoughts that we're moving away from a literary, deep-reading culture to a visual, hyperlinking culture that shuns substance or rigour, and where superficial appearances and soundbites make up our experience of the world and our friends, and of history. As for Twitter, don't get me started...
