having spent 6 years in the army and my fair time in afghanistan i believe you may be overreacting. unfortunately for women like you who are not whores in the army, the overall perception of females in the military in general is that they are. you are in the minority and you are not expected to do everything a man does in a practical sense, maybe on paper but definitely not in reality. a fine example of this is the PT test, sure some women can do the same amount of push ups and sit ups and running as a man, but they arent expected to, a female having 2 to 3 more minutes in a pt test run to pass is a really big difference. now lets not forget the army regulations on how many personnel can lift a container of a certain size, i dont remember the numbers exactly but a 40 lbs container is a 2 man lift and 3 woman lift.
this is the perception that women are not equal to men in physical terms, with that you have a male army that is male dominated and yes there are high ranking female officers, even a general or 2 if i recall, but the face of the army is a mans. Ads |
