To delete permanently, log in, then click on this link:

https://www.facebook.com/help/delete_account?rdrhc

do delete temporarily, deactivate:

Click the account menu at the top right of any Facebook page
Select Account Settings
Click Security in the left-hand column
Click Deactivate your account
