if you have a directory website you should add it to a directory of directories such as http://www.mydirectorylist.com

but if you have a different type of site you should add it to normal directories in order to increase backlinks..these directories can be found at http://www.directorieslist.com
or you can visit any of the following...

http://www.dreamwebdirectory.com
http://www.championwebdirectory.com
http://www.applewebdirectory.net
http://www.cruiserrodparts.com
http://www.nymidia.com
http://www.mikadirectory.org
