I've been receiving emails that is not mine, same first name but different last names?

I recently signed in for a yahoo account, when they had that program wherein you could get the email of your choice was introduced ( I think these were addresses that were considered dormant). Anyways, at first, everything was ok, but after some time, I've been receiving emails that isn't mine. Including statements from the bank and utilities, subscriptions to newspapers, etickets, facebook notifications and everything else. The emails are all addressed to the same first name as mine, but with different last names. I have received numerous password retrievals on my cellphone which I have not initiated. Despite changing my password many times, I am still receiving the emails, and the verification codes through text. All sent messages in my outbox are all mine and all mails are unread when I check my emails.

Any idea how I can stop these emails coming in? Did Yahoo give my account to different people as well as me?
