Promoting Xbox Live account in an Adult account.?

I have the exact same problem. I was young when I got xbox live on the first xbox and I didn't have the foresight to lie about my age. I'm the only one of my friends that has a child account (because they started with the 360) and I'm extremely pissed about not being able to use last.fm and facebook especially. These are sites that don't require you to be 18 anyway, so what gives?

I can't start a new account because I have over 90 friends and 44,000 achievement points. Does anyone know a solution?

I've had so many problems because of this damn child account, including my account being unusable for over a month. Seriously, so close to the age. Why can't I get promoted?
