I would disagree.
There is evidence of small differences in the brain between genders that relates to gender identity. There is a specific structure burried deep in the brain that is thought to relate to gender identity. And no this is not Mars / Venus or brain wiring nonsense. http://www.gires.org.uk Yes TERFs (Trans exclusive radical feminists) are amonst the most biggoted transphobics on the planet. It is also pretty hyprocritcal to ask for equality for one group and not for another. This is the kind of hate we have had to read in the papers this year from Julie Burchill / Julie Bindle of TERF city... http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/tobyyo...r-article/ They are missing a big point. Trans people demonstrate how wrong gender stereo types are. We don't want people to be judged on sex or gender either. So thankfully there are plenty of feminists who realise this & are inclusive & gain support from transwomen. What are we doing about it ? Many of us complained to the UK press watch dog about the article that link relates too. There were demonstrations made outside the news paper's offices. There were petitions made. Transmedia watch talk to both press & other media to improve presentation of trans people in the media and have contributed to the Levison Inquiry. We now have new guidelines issued from the press Watch Dog which improve the chances of any complaint made against a similar story being upheld. Many of us have added pressure in our own ways for things to change. |
