Try doing some volunteer community work.

If you can take care of a dog, go to the local animal shelter and find a dog that you bond with.
Dogs make great companions. Whenever I get in a down mood, my dog is my best therapy.

As far as the girlfriend problem , you have to make a effort to get a girlfriend. One will not come pounding at your door. You have to get more aggressive.
