Yes and no. Things certainly are better for women overall than they were 40 years ago. I feel confident that my basic human rights are protected, that I'm valued as much as the male counterparts in my life.
That said, I do think the pendulum has swung a bit too far. I'm not a believer in "making up" for losses of generations past. I want relative equality, not preferential treatment. And so when I see women being advantaged for their gender alone, then it saddens me. That means we still aren't equal. |
