To Remove a Connection with someone:
Go to the Account drop down (upper right) & click on Edit Friends. On the left hand List menu click on the Friends option. All your friends will be listed here. Click the "x" corresponding to the "friend" you want to remove connection to.

If you want to block someone from seeing you at all:
Go to the Account drop down (upper right) & click on Privacy Settings. Click on Block List and add the name or email of the person you want to block. You'll get a window with a list of people's name that you just typed and select the appropriate person.
