Although I'm suspicious of anyone who claims to have paid their rent two years in advance...

If you paid by check, and you specified in the memo that the check was for rent for a specific period of time, and the landlord cashed the check, I'm pretty sure you're safe. If you paid by cash, or didn't fill in the memo area of a check or money order, you might have a harder time defending your position. It wouldn't be impossible, though, because the landlord probably couldn't come up with any other reason for getting such a large amount of money from you.
