What's the difference between "Deactivate" and "Deleting" your Facebook?

Deactivating is temporary. Your profile is still saved in FB, just not available. The account gets activated again the moment you log back in.
Deleting on the other hand is permanent. You lose your account in the process and you won't be able to reuse nor reconstruct it. If you need to go back to FB you have to use a different username and re-invite your friends to that new profile. |
