All you younger ones prepare yourselves, lol.
Since teaching my 71 yr old Mom Facebook, Twitter and MySpace and how to use it, she has taught whole groups of her friends, going to their houses to set up accounts, etc. This age group has a lot of time on their hands and usually the disposable income to finance any project that catches their attention. This is both an exciting new world to explore and a 'way out of the house' for disabled bodies, inclement weather, far from/without family. My Moms friends have said "they feel more connected to their families daily lives' than sitting waiting for a phone call. Many also enjoy the fact that the internet is 24/7, so they can 'update' at 3:00am when they can't sleep, instead of watching crappy TV. My Mom gets literally hundreds of emails daily from all her friends. You DO NOT want to get on their 'pass it on' with this group!!!! I also noticed a significant thing about you and FMIL.....she is computer savvy enough to dig to find you, while you on the other hand had no idea she was following you until she told you. What's to stop her from creating a new Twitter account identity and begin following you anew? If you 'put it out there'...be ready to accept the consequences. |
