If it had not been for the Crusades and other actions that stopped the spread of Islam, odds are that a lot more of mankind would be dead today. Interesting how people think that the Crusades were such a terrible thing when they were nothing but an attempt by the existing European governments to unite to stop an invading force and reclaim the territories the Muslis had taken over during the previous 400 years by attacking Europe, Asia, and Africa.
