Etiquette for dealing with a friend who is rude on facebook?

I have a close friend who constantly makes rude comments on facebook (on my wall, on pictures, on status updates, on other friends' wall posts, etc). I'm not sure whether they're intended to be rude, but regardless, they often seem condescending or mean.

Considering that I have family members, classmates, teachers, and co-workers as friends on facebook, I think of my profile as an extension of how people see me, and I don't want them to see me being treated badly, nor do I want people to associate me with someone rude. I delete her comments whenever they rub me the wrong way, and she always gets upset about it.

How do you recommend dealing with this situation? I've considered removing her as a facebook friend, but since we are close friends off of facebook, I think that would only harm our friendship.
