Etiquette for dealing with a friend who is rude on facebook?

I'm a Facebook user but I hardly have any problems with it since any wacky friends or former friends who like to cause trouble are not on my friend-list or are permanently blocked. For some people with rude friends or persistent ex-friend stalkers, Facebook may not be worth the trouble.

Anyhow, if you want to continue using FB, reason with your friend in real time, tell her that her remarks are rude and embarrassing. How would she like it if you posted rude statements on her wall? Try to distract her, there are so many things you can do on FB. There are so many different things you can do in privacy settings as well, like restricting who can see what or who can post on your wall, etc.

If you have to, remove her from your friend-list. Or deactivate your account temporarily to give it a rest. When you reactivate it, set some new ground rules for your friend or anyone else who is rude. You have the right to delete any rude comments from your wall, and you don't have to apologize for it. Be firm, but try to achieve an understanding with your friend.

I hope you're able do resolve this problem. Remember, to solve problems like this, it helps to be more proactive than reactive.
