Number of facebook friends keeps changing?

Well I noticed about a week ago that someone had removed me as a friend, and to be honest I didn't really mind as I don't know him that well, he was part of the animation team when I was on holiday, and we spoke to him a lot and got photos with him and stuff while we were there, but now we're back it's not as if we're really gonna keep in touch, and I reckon I annoyed him as I was tagged in loads of albums recently because we had a results day party for GCSE results, and I think I probably spammed his homepage with pics of me and he was like omg I'll just delete her. So yeah, I noticed the number of friends I had. It was 276. Then the next day I just happened to notice the number, and it was 274 and I was a bit like ermm.. so people are removing me? And I was kinda offended cos its not like I'm one of those people who post statuses every two minutes or comment on everything. But I added a few more people but it went up but then down again and after adding three or four more people the number stayed the same, like it would go up and down by ones and twos like changing once or twice a day. Today I checked and it was 277, and then a couple of hours later it was 278, but I've not added anyone today. Got any idea what's going on?

And yeah I know it seems like I'm obsessed with how many friends I've got, but I've met and made actual friends with everyone on my facebook-friends list, even this guy from Turkey - we were sort of friends at the time but yanno, he's just an animator and it's kind of his job to be friendly. And I'm just wondering if there could be someone on my account removing people, as the other day I found some links at the side of my profile to some games I've definitely NEVER played, like something to do with trucks. I just deleted it but it's kinda sparked this little doubt that I'm the only one on my facebook.. :/
