or have bred for ill-defined and not particularly useful things like
"nobility" -- Europe and Egypt -- leading to inbreeding depression.

Oh, we have them but they're not politicians.
Social media, file sharing, microcomputer operating systems, cellphone systems, the next generation of microprocessors -- all evidence of geniuses on the job.
It may take a peculiar set of circumstances for a genius to stand out as much as Einstein or Hawking though.
