Advice for putting my small business on Facebook?

To create a page for your business you first need a Facebook account of your own. The first step to do is create a page on facebook for your business. You do this by going to settings > create page. Fill in the details of the company so that users that find your page know about your business. You can gain "Likes" of your page 2 ways. Targeted advertising (which you have to pay for) in which you can advertise you business to certain demographics in your local area or by sharing your page on your wall, and asking your friends to do the same.
