how do you cancel facebook account?

Click on the "Settings" button at the top of your facebook page, then click on "Account Settings"
At the bottom there is an option to deactivate your account. Then just choose the reason you are leaving and click the deactivate button. You can also temporarily deactivate it if you plan on coming back again later.
