Should I give him another chance?

Basically I broke up with my ex 8 months ago, simply because I felt we weren't really going anywhere. We were only together for 4 months. He really liked me though, more than I liked him. He were a great guy. Anyway, he messaged me on facebook 4 weeks ago basically saying sorry for being a bit of a dick with me (which I didn't understand cos he were the nicest guy ever) and I told him that, but I apologised aswell because I knew how he felt about me. I asked if he wanted to meet up as friends and he said he'd love to, but when the day came he were ignoring all my facebook messages and didn't end up meeting me and he didn't even say sorry or tell me the reason why... Until 4 weeks later (which was yesterday) he told me he were so sorry for letting me down he just didn't know how the day would of turned out and it scared him a little. I accepted his apology because I know that he's not a bad guy and what he did were totally unexpected. Anyways we carried on messaging eachother and we were getting along fine, this time HE asked me if I'd like to go to the cinemas some day this week and said he'd definitely turn up this time because he regrets not meeting me when I asked cos he really wanted to... Would I be stupid to meet him or does he deserve another chance? I'm a bit worried he'll do it again, but he says he won't?
