Sorry that's happening to you. I'd suggest that you report it to Facebook. (Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/help?page=783) FB may be unable to instantly reply to your bug report, but they will contact you for more details as they investigate your issue.
Although it's an inconvenience, I suggest in the meantime to have someone in those groups to give you important group event information via FB PM (private message) or email.
