Hashtag usage is always something that you can add with every tweet you write. It is not so easily to be recognized coming from ONE twitter account - IF... you don't plan and promote such a hashtag.

You can use sites like whatthetrend.com to explain hashtags or in your case hashtags.org - but that only works if enough people already did tweet your hashtag.

One way to promote your hashtag is to start a contest and let people tweet about it. So you really have to start and spread the word about an event - look at television channels for example. They reach enough viewers through the TV network at first, then people start to tweet about it and then you can define that hashtag.

Of course you can feel free to create a hashtag that is associated with your businessname and make it a bit longer like #youcompany-may2012 but if a hashttag is too long there is not much room left for a real tweet.

A good way to start and promote is to pre-write tweets (like with Tweet Architect) and then create recurring updated Tweets like socialoomph.com

Successful social media campaigns take a lot of thoughtful preparation and need additional attention from other web or traditional marketing channels.

Rarely if even can they created out of nothing.

PS: Of course there is a "black hat way" to do things. Meaning mass creating twitter accounts (to autopost and autotweet about your event), buying fake followers or Facebook likes and friends,, posting messages on youtube etc. - but everything fake will fire back as people get a feeling whats real and whats fake.
