if you put in a an automatic bid of 1000 it will match any bid up to 1000 so if someone bid 799 your bid would be (say) 802 and so one until someone bids more than 1000 if no one bids more than 220 , it would be yours, but be careful of children bidding and shill bidding , happens all the time on ebay the kids keep bidding up to ridiculous amounts and shill bidding where a friend of the seller bids the amount up to a level they want
