Facility Layout Optimization is the evaluation of multiple layout scenarios to design the optimum layout that reduces material handling costs, improves throughput, minimizes space requirements, and lowers energy bills. Layout optimization starts with a 2D CAD drawing. It involves definition of locations for machines, work centers, and storage areas and definition of material flow paths.
