Is this a genuinely bad picture to put on facebook?

I don't think it's a nice picture (I'll tell you why later) but that guy was RUDE and out of a line. Like WOW who the hell asked you??? What an entitled jerk that he would just assume that his opinion was SO important that he had to say that rude a** sh*t to you.

When I was like 7 we had this thing we would say in class, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." He could have used that lesson. It's not his place to tell you which pictures you should or shouldn't have up on your facebook. You should tell him, "By the way, I want to thank you for your advice last night about my facebook picture, I have some advice for you too. If you don't have anything nice to say, shut the f*ck up." And then give him a nice smile and walk away.

Now, since you ASKED, I don't think your picture looks nice and here's why.
The lighting is bad, everything is grey and washed out. Laptop/cellphone pictures taken INDOORS typically don't come out very good UNLESS there is natural sunlight. The camera is usually too close, at a bad angle, the light isn't good, and the background usually isn't great. I suggest next time you plan on taking a well executed selfie think about all these factors.

1. Always go for natural sunlight, sit by a window with the blinds/curtains fully open.
2. Make sure your background is nice, a plain wall or some other nice background. There have been too many selfie backgrounds of ceilings, dirty bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. You want to frame yourself with a beautiful or at least neutral background. (This is why outdoor vacation shots are attractive)
3. Look in the mirror and find your best angle and best smile. Practice making different faces in the mirror to really master your best shot. And when you finally take your selfie make sure the light is casting pleasing shadows on your face but not washing it out (a lot of times people lose their noses in selfies.)
TIP: It helps to think happy and confident thoughts. It will show through in the final picture.

Check out these selfie taking guides get inspired and have fun! (And don't forget to let that guy know he is an a**)
