To use the tracking number - e-mail him and ask which firm he posted it with.

If it starts P2G chances are he's used Parcel2Go (as P2G beginning usually denotes parcel2go tracking number - also a lot of online retailers use Parcel2Go as they are cheap and deal with a lot of parcel firms)

If you go to this page
https://www.parcel2go.com/parcel-tracking.aspx
they have links to a number of companies tracking pages, as well as their own.

Once you find out who he posted it with go to their website and they should have a tracking page. Click on the tracking page and enter the number, that will then tell you where the parcel is.

It will probably provide you with a list like

24-Nov-2013 - Picked up from LOCATION
24-Nov-2013 - Arrived at DEPOT
25-Nov-2013 - Sent out for delivery

the latest entry in the list is where the parcel is (or should be!), it will also tell you if they've attempted to deliver it and took it back as a failed delivery.

Also check with neighbours or sometimes in the bins to ensure they've not put it in there (yes I have known some parcel firms to leave parcels in the dustbin - and sometimes they've been dumb enough to do it on collection days when the bin is on the street awaiting collection!)
