Earning from Wordpress falls into two categories. The first is using WordPress as it is intended and creating a website or blog from it, then monetizing that blog to earn money.
The second is tapping into the vast market for programming, designing and customizing websites or blogs for WordPress. If you have design and/or programming skills, you can tap into the huge number of site owners using WordPress and address their various needs.
