I am partially a waitress and I&#x27;ve accepted a regular customer as a friend on Facebook. He kept messaging me but it didn&#x27;t get awkward. He felt more comfortable around me once we had spoken outside of the café.
However...
He went a little awkward when he saw on Facebook that I was seeing (not in a relationship) with a guy.
But he got over it.

It could potentially cause issues but on the other hand, you may get along with the customer. Just as long as you remain professional when at work.
