Should not there be privacy on the Internet?

I've noticed this, this recent year....more and more websites are....
1.) Requiring you post a current photo of yourself as your 'avatar'.
2.) That you use your real name or real initials on screen instead of the traditional... 'screen name'.
3.) That you regularly 'update your information' to them....that is birth date, name, address...pwords etc.
4.) That you 'must' have a 'Facebook account' (even if you don't want to).
5.) And some....especially AOL's 'Arianna Huffington' (Huff Post) that you keep her updated with your monthly account... 'mobile phone #'...to 'verify' your Facebook account.
Isn't this the biggest invasion of privacy and 'Big Brotherism' on record?
I'm not an IT specialist but even I know that with average 'skip tracing software' bought at Best Buy if....someone has your true name, birth date, current photo, and mobile number, not to mention your personal details spewed to the world on Facebook....even a regular person can track and monitor everything you do, every time your on the internet, every time you use your mobile phone, and even I can 'Google Earth' a satellite image of your house zoomed in to see you in your yard.
Invasion of privacy monitoring gone wild?
A.) Who is behind this....secret government or private business?
B.) Is someone changing the internet to monitor everyone and connect it with mobile phones to monitor all phone conversations too.
C)How does 'Facebook' get so rich and have such INet power when it charges no fees?
