Does Facebook have a REAL use?

On an invitation from a friend, I joined Facebook, and after trying it out for a couple of months, I find that it doesn't really do anything apart from people sending each other endless amounts of kisses, hugs, pokes, gifts, flowers, secret admirers, lollies, teddy bears, etc, and then for your time wasting efforts you get rewards in so called ratings with your friends, you ability as a kisser, your popularity, your attractiveness, your generosity, etc etc. There are messaging options, but they don't appear to get used much, while the rest of applications are really, pretty lame. It does seem to be a manipulative, marketing tool, aimed at people out looking for online "love" and "fun", but delivers frustating, & time consuming junk. eg "Secret Crushes" is system generated, but leads the user to believe a "real" person is interested, but you have to invite X number of people to to the application to find out who! A manipulative piece of junk aimed at lonely people. What do you think?
