Are Shopping Directories considered to be Link Farms? and SEO Ranking?

I own a business online and I've been trying to advertise and do the whole social media thing. Sometimes I submit my URL to shopping directories. On the site that I sell on, we have to meet certain criteria to be listed in Google search and Google product shopping. One of the requirements is that we can't list out URL on too many link farm sites or else Google will push us further back in the search engine results making it harder to find our websites.

So, does anyone know if a shopping directory would be considered a link farm? Like I said, I don't want to list my URL with too many of these directories if they are considered to be link farms because I don't want to hurt my SEO ranking. I've worked too hard to get it to where it is right now. Thanks!
