To properly charge shipping you need to know the weight of the package, (box, contents). This must be an accurate weight. Once you have the real weight you can enter it into the shipping section when listing the item and chose the method you will use to ship it. This will tell each person who looks at your item how much they have to pay for shipping to their location. If you do not use this method eBay may limit how much you can charge for shipping and money will end up coming out of your pocket.

When listing the item you should clearly state when you expect to be paid. If you don't some people will take their sweet time about it. You need to specify a return policy. In the real world there is no such thing as no refunds.

When the listing ends, (with a buyer), you can send them an invoice but many pay right away without waiting for one. So long as your eBay account is hooked to your PayPal account the money will go there.

As a new seller PayPal will put a hold on your money. This hold can last up to 21 days or until a couple of days after the buyer leaves positive feedback. Thus you will need shipping money out of your pocket to send the item. PayPal takes their cut instantly when you are paid. eBay sends an invoice once a month for any fees you owe them.

ALWAYS use online tracking for the package. You have to be able to prove they got the item if they open a dispute saying they didn't. You might be surprised at how many people will try to rip you off this way.

Once your money is released you can do with it as you wish. You can spend it with any online place that takes PayPal, you can transfer it to your checking account (free), or request a paper check (fee involved).
