My brother's wife is a full-blooded Cajun from Opelousas. Their daughters have popular names of the time when they were born, and their son is a Junior from his father. They all have confirmation names, of course, because my sister-in-law was adamant the children attend Catholic schools and be very involved in the church. My brother went along with it; they're still happy together since 1983.
With the arrival of cable TV and social media/internet, Cajun culture has changed along with the rest of us. They're still great people, always a good time. |
