How much are Ebay fees?

I used to do a lot of business with eBay and Paypal (same company). First thing you have to keep in mind is that they are an online auction house. That being said most auction houses charge 40-60 percent commission, which is outrageous but they find the buyers for you. eBay is not only better because your reaching such a far better customer base, but your also paying a lot less. Also your not having to wait 6 months to sell your item, which can be far more convenient in most cases.

However on the downside there is some Cons to using eBay, you are trusting a seller or buyer to some extent. eBay and Paypal both offer buyer and seller protection, however in the worst case scenario it can take a long time for an issue to be resolved, but it will be resolved. The reason fees are so high is because of the protection they offer. Yes in some cases where you do not receive an item or get ripped off, sometimes the company has to settle both parties because they may not be able to get an honest outcome.

eBay fees range depending on how much the item is worth, I believe it was a set price by dollar amounts and as the price gets higher they still charge a ladder fee for all transactions. Heres an example:

.0 - 100 = 10%
100 - 500= 8%
500 - 1,000 = 4%
1K - 10K = 2%
Something similar to this, I know eBay help is a B**** but just know that after all the fees combined, its a lot!

No matter the amount of what your selling these percentages stay the same, If you sell something for 10K, then you will still pay the initial 10% for the 0 - 100 then the 8% for the 100 - 500 and so on. Yes eBay and Paypal fees are high, but you really have to take into consideration all whats going on on there part, I found the business I was running at the time that I could not afford to compete with the competition (China) when it came to the fees that eBay has in effect, but rather than getting mad I found something else that I am doing now. I would say eBay is more a place for people that need quick cash or a quick sell rather than trying to make something profitable out of it.

Hope this helps Smile
