Get the information out EVERYWHERE. Use Facebook, twitter, etc., as well as local businesses, churches, schools, dance studios...

Get an arts/publicity crew together to brand your show and start distributing material. Come up with a specific font and tagline, so that the stuff that you hang up all looks the same.

Make posters that very clearly list all of the important information about the show. I like it when show posters have pictures of cast members in costume, as I find that seeing an actual human face really helps to sell a show to people, but make sure that your school is fine with that first. Design a poster that will fit the size of a Facebook cover photo and ask all cast/crew to change their cover photo to that to help advertise. Also, encourage your cast to take a picture of themselves in costume and set it as their profile picture. Create a Facebook event and encourage cast/crew to invite friends and share it on Facebook. Ask them to tweet about it as well.

Put posters all over school. Also, hand them out to cast members and ask them to hang them up in various locations. Often, churches, dance studios, book stores, etc. are willing to help promote shows, especially something like Godspell.

Ask the administration to make announcements on the school's P.A. system, telling students about the show.

Flashmobs are always fun, and help get word out. Mini-shows/previews during lunch periods can also help to advertise. Ask the supervising teacher to sign the cast out of class for first period one day and divide into teams of two. In groups of two, go to every home room and make an announcement about the show. If you have a sign outside your school, change it so that it advertises the show.
