Facebook page removed?

A very similar thing happened to me. I was friends with someone. Chatting daily on messenger. I checked my mobile and all of their conversation was gone ( just empty bubbles) a message said something about spam reported. I didn't know if I had done something wrong.( my texts were still there) Their profile picture next to each text was gone their face book page is gone. The only thing left is their friends show up as people I might know list .I've checked those friends profile pages and this person has almost vanished. It gives you such an uneasy feeling like maybe you've been conned or something. Hope you get some answers. I wish it wasn't so difficult to get answers to these types of questions.
