Why had it become weird to want to keep your private life off Facebook?

I've never been on Facebook, and I don't intent to use it. I loathe the very idea of it. Just listening to people who do use it is enough to put me off. I'm not interested in every tiny detail of people's lives, and I don't feel the need to share every tiny detail of my life with other people.
I can phone people and I can text people, I can send emails or even go down the outdated route of sending a letter. I can visit people and speak to them face to face. For me, this is more than enough.
When I tell people that I'm not on Facebook they often look at me as if I have two heads!
