They don't lie outright. You can get good information from the mainstream media, but you have to be careful about the information presented to you, and how it's presented to you. The context is often laden with hidden editorial comment (The more rightwing stations tend to do more of this). But perhaps more important is what the mainstream media simply omits. (In order to inform you on the latest about Justin Bieber and other such nonsense.)
Stories that are inconvenient to the general narrative are usually simply omitted. I recommend anyone with an interest in this get interested in the Project Censored, where journalists, professors, etc... put together every year a list of stories that are usually ignored by the mainstream media. http://www.projectcensored.org/ Ads |
