I think it may be best you consider reading "Steve Jobs" by Walter Isaacson; ISBN: 978-1-4516-4853-9. I think you will be quite fascinated by the fact that he in my view is "both" creator and marketing genius. You could likely pick the book up at your local or school library but commit yourself to knowing first for yourself by diving into the details ~ then you will have a better opinion for yourself and be able to judge this further.

People are "hooked" because the products were developed with the end user in mind; this as opposed to Corporate Profits ~ Wall Street could take a simple lesson in this regard.
