The murder of Shanda Renee Sharer (June 6, 1979 – January 11, 1992) involved a 12-year-old girl who was tortured and burned to death in Madison, Indiana, by four teenage girls. The incident attracted nationwide attention, but not as much as Caylee Anthony and Trayvon Martin. Her case was completely different than these cases and definitely different than OJ's case because, just like in Trayvon Martin's case there was a racial component involved as well.
