Link-Backs or Back-Links are a very important element of SEO and are ranked by search engines, mainly Google which uses two algorithms 1. Panda and 2. Penguin
The most important element of any link-back is to have links coming from good quality websites that have what are called high PR ratings. PR meaning "Page-Rank" which is another algorithm invented primarily by Larry Page when he was in University. I would not recommend the signature method as that is considered black-hat and 1 universal update to the algorithm could make you lose all your links at once. What I would suggest is starting with the basics, creating a Pinterest Page, Flickr, Facebook Business Page etc. and linking your brand to those sites right off the get go will provide you high quality link-backs. You can also take a look at your competitors links by typing their website into Alexa.com and looking at where their links are coming from. I am always reluctant to buy traffic as it is usually computer generated "Bot" traffic from overseas which could tarnish your image. Doing things the right way and focusing on quality is worth much more. For instance commenting on an article on the Wall St. Journal or USA Today and linking your website is worth a lot more than 1000 links from no-name forums. However there are some very popular forums and answer type sites like here, or stack-overflow for computer programmers and the alike which also provide good links. Good Luck! |
