Both are relatively the same and neither has any benefit over the other as Google now treats subdomains just like subfolders or subdirectories. So you can go with whatever your client prefers. Although don't really know if he'll be satisfied with the choice he makes after everything is done Smile best of luck to you i guess Smile.
