It's best to meet people someplace else besides work. Otherwise, it could get awkward if it didn't work out. Try hobbies such as walking groups & other activities through your city's recreation dept. Some community college have both credit & non-credit evening classes. Get out & attend free art openings for new exhibits. Malls may have free music performances on the weekend. Car shows, festivals, & fairs are good, too, & thrift shops, farmers markets, & yard sales are fun regardless. If there's a rock & mineral show or a cat or dog show at the fairgrounds, then definitely be there. See who's speaking at the library or bookstore. Join a political activist group or volunteer for the food bank or to pick up litter on the beach. Check online & in the newspaper. Churches & temples are good places to meet people with similar beliefs. Also, don't overlook getting introductions from friends & neighbors.

Work should be the last place you'd ever want to meet people for dating purposes, but go ahead & strike up a conversation if you're ever at a holiday reception or ask if he'd like to go out for lunch. Just don't indulge in anything alcoholic so you don't end up making a fool of yourself. Definitely proceed with caution & assume all the gossip mongers will be on active duty.
