The bookmarks are not gone, if all you did was trash Firefox.app. Your bookmarks don't stay inside Firefox. (Also, there is no "install" or "uninstall" for Firefox in Mac OS. All you do is place the app package in the Applications folder, or trash it.)

Do this....
– Quit all apps.
– At the top menu bar, click the "Go" menu, and choose "Go to Folder".
– Type
~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles
(or just copy and paste the line above)
– Then click the "Go" button.
– Inside that is a folder called "whatever.default" .
– Make a copy of that folder as a backup, but you probably should rename it to "Firefox profile backup".
– Download a new Firefox.app and put it in the Applications folder.

All set, open the new Firefox. If you ever need to recover anything from the old Firefox user profile, it's all in that backup folder–– but you can't just use the whole folder. You would quit Firefox, copy the stuff inside the backup folder to the new profile folder, and then launch Firefox. (You should not rename the Firefox profile folder)
